About The Role

As a Software Engineer on the cloud detection engine team, you'll architect and implement a cutting-edge detection system that processes billions of events across multi-cloud environments. You'll work on implementing our innovative technologies like custom query languages, event orchestration systems, and advanced correlation engines to detect sophisticated cloud-based threats. Collaborate with world-class security researchers to transform their expertise into scalable detection capabilities that protect organizations worldwide. Our team operates at the intersection of distributed systems, data engineering, and security analytics, building a composable and modular architecture that enables continuous innovation. Note: This position requires candidates to be located in the Eastern Time Zone (ET) of the United States.

What You'll Do

• Lead backend engineering efforts from rapid prototypes to large-scale applications across CrowdStrike products
• Leverage and build cloud-based systems to detect targeted attacks and automate cyber threat intelligence production at a global scale
• Brainstorm, define and build collaboratively with members across multiple teams
• Obsess about learning, and champion the newest technologies & tricks with others, raising the technical IQ of the team
• Be mentored and mentor other developers on web, backend, and data storage technologies and our system
• Constantly re-evaluate our product to improve architecture, knowledge models, user experience, performance and stability
• Be given the autonomy to own your work in a high trust environment
• The technology stack youll use will include:

What You'll Need

• Degree in Computer Science (or professional experience in data structures/algorithms/distributed systems)
• Understanding scalability and distributed systems (e.g., sharding, partitioning, concurrency)
• Being a team player
• An understanding of engineering best practices from testing paradigms to peer code reviews and resilient architecture
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, test-driven, collaborative environment
• Ability to meet commitments on time and produce high-quality software that is unit tested and CI/CD ready

Bonus Points

• Contributions to the open-source community (GitHub, Stack Overflow, blogging)
• Experience with Go, Scala, AWS, Cassandra, Kafka, Elasticsearch
• Prior experience in cybersecurity or intelligence fields
• Experience in thinking about, designing, or implementing programming languages and/or compilers
• Interesting hobbies

Base salary range for this position for all U.S. candidates is $140,000 - $215,000 per year, with eligibility for bonuses, equity grants and a comprehensive benefits package.
