Job Description

Overview Pilates Instructor leads clients and students through safe and effective Pilates exercises, demonstrating proper form and providing feedback to help them meet fitness goals including strength and flexibility. Responsibilities include creating personalized or group-based workout plans using mat Pilates and apparatus, assessing client needs, monitoring progress, and maintaining a positive and safe studio. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Clearly explain and demonstrate a variety of Pilates exercises, ensuring clients and students understand correct technique, breathing, and body alignment. Teach the core principles of Pilates, such as concentration, control, precision, and flow, to enhance clients' and students’ understanding and practice. Create personalized and progressive exercise programs and routines tailored to clients' and students’ specific needs, goals, and fitness levels. Guide clients and students on the safe and proper use of Pilates equipment, such as the reformer, trapeze table, stability ball, and resistance bands. Observe client and student progress, provide constructive feedback and adjustments, and offer motivation to ensure clients stay engaged and reach their goals. Maintain a clean, safe, and positive studio environment, adhering to all relevant safety standards and facility policies. Qualifications and Skills Must hold a comprehensive Pilates certification with at least 500 hours, NCPT preferred. Ability to work with all ages and contraindications. Possess a strong understanding of anatomy, physiology, and body mechanics to design safe and effective programs. Demonstrated verbal communication and interpersonal skills to effectively instruct, motivate, and connect with clients and students. Ability to assess and modify workouts to accommodate clients with different fitness levels, needs, and goals, including those with injuries. Experience with dancers preferred, though not required. Provide superior customer service to ensure clients feel competent, confident, and connected. Physical Demands and Environment The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to perform the essential functions of this job. Position requires significant stamina, the ability to stoop, kneel and lift equipment, prolonged standing and the capacity for repetitive motions to demonstrate and correct exercises. The ability to lift and move Pilates equipment is essential. Prolonged standing for extended periods is a significant demand, as is the stamina needed to guide multiple classes and clients throughout the day. Ability to use fingers to grasp and feel to make subtle corrections to clients’ or students’ form and movements. Strong speaking and listening skills are vital for one-on-one instruction, ensuring clients and students feel supported and motivated. Pay and Benefits Pay Range: $36.25 - $40.00/hour; Hourly, Non-exempt.
